The Civil Defense Organization search and rescue team rush to provide aid to Türkiye

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), has begun necessary preparations in aid of the earthquake that took place in the early hours of this morning.

The Head of Civil Defense Organization has carried out preparations for 8 fully equipped search and rescue vehicles, and 40 personnel trained in the field of search and rescue to aid in efforts of the earthquake zone in Türkiye.
The first team consisting of 30 people, departed from the Girne Port with 8 search and rescue vehicles which arrived at Taşucu Port in Türkiye at 12 this afternoon.

Following the arrival in Türkiye, the team will work in the regions needed in coordination with Turkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD).

A second team of 10 people will fly to the earthquake zone at 2.30 pm to help in efforts of the search and rescue activities for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus sports team, which is located in Adıyaman and could not be heard from following the collapse of the hotel where they were staying.
One person from each student’s family will be flying together with the team.
