The entrance of the Taksim pitch, on the side of the Çetinkaya Turkish Sports Club, which had a newly laid synthetic turf a while ago, has been blocked with cement by the United Nations (UN).

The renovation of the pitch that was carried out in line with a Youth and Sports collaboration protocol between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus had been completed and an inauguration ceremony took place last week.
The UN had again blocked the entrance with a lorry during the opening.
The UN has now blocked the stairs entrance of the pitch next to the club with cement leaving the Ledra Palace crossing point as the only entrance.

Ertuğruloğlu referred to the incident and said, “We will spoil everything that is done without our knowledge and approval. If they don’t take it down, we will”.
Stating that they were waiting for the United Nations Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Chief of UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, Colin Stewart to arrive on the island, Ertuğruloğlu said that protests between the civilian personnel and the ministry is continuing, “Nothing is over yet”, he said.
