Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar who visited Diyarbakır, Türkiye held a tour at the 8th Air Wing Command and closely examined the F16 fighter jets.
In his speech during the visit, TC leader Tatar commemorated Cengiz Topel, who was martyred during the Erenköy struggle. Pointing out that the clashes in Erenköy were a turning point, Tatar stated that with the intervention of the Turkish Air Force, the situation turned in favour of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Air Commodore Gürtaç Kayapınar: “We are always ready”
Air Commodore Gürtaç Kayapınar also expressed his satisfaction with the fact that they were able to make the enemy feel fear and the friend with such feelings. Kayapınar said that he was very pleased that their efforts of keeping the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) at its highest level were well known.
“As can be seen in the last operation, we are always ready. We are at the service of our nation and state, regardless of race, religion or language. It is our greatest pride and honour that these feeling towards us are always kept alive” Kayapınar noted.
