President Ersin Tatar said on Wednesday that “There is no comeback. TRNC will further gain acceptance.”
The president’s remarks came during his meeting with a delegation of the Türkiye-Cyprus Cooperation Society.
During the meeting, President Tatar said, “We are striving to maintain and strengthen the TRNC as a Turkic state,” emphasizing the importance of deepening ties with Türkiye in all areas.
Noting that the steps taken towards the recognition of the TRNC were being prevented by the Greek Cypriot side, President Tatar reiterated the importance of the speech by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the 77th United Nations General Assembly, in which he called for recognition of the TRNC. “There is no comeback. TRNC will further gain acceptance,” he stressed.
He also reiterated that a settlement could be reached through a two-state solution.
