Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu said that an accurate policy based on a sovereign equal state is being carried out on the Cyprus issue and a new partnership with Greek Cypriots is out of the question.
Foreign Minister Ertuğruloğlu received the President of the Türkiye – Turkish Republic of Cyprus Cooperation Association Rüşat Aydoğan and his accompanying delegation.
Ertuğruloğlu said:
“Our strength is as strong as the strength of our motherland. For us, there is no difference between Türkiye and Turkish Cypriots. We are members of the Turkish nation in this geography. Turkish Cypriots know very well that they cannot and should not be without their motherland. An example of this is the European Union (EU). We will not join the EU, if Türkiye is not a member, even if they invite us as a state, which is very unlikely. If Türkiye is not there, we have no business or place there either.”
Ertuğruloğlu said that the European Union should be ashamed of its decisions taken on the Cyprus issue and apologize to the Turkish Cypriots.
