The Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry is building a solar park that will supply most of the industrial districts’ electrical requirements.
The Chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry, Ali Kamacıoğlu, stated that the solar field would have a 25-megawatt capacity and that electricity produced would be shared with the tourism sector.
He added that the power would be equally distributed to members via a cooperative.
Ground braking is pending an agreement to be signed between the Chamber and government.
According to Kamacoglu, electricity is the most important input in production, and their goal is to cover 80-90 percent of the electricity needs.
