“Sidereal Lines is responsible for power cuts”

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel blamed the power cuts on the firm that took on the fuel purchase tender adding that it did not fulfill its commitments. Üstel gave reassurance that the electricity requirement will be met uninterruptedly via short-term purchases until the international tender process has been completed.

“Following yesterday’s intensive power cuts, less periodic power cuts will be experienced today and as of this evening onwards a routine energy distribution will be maintained”

In a written statement this morning, Üstel stated that the power cuts experienced caused serious problems and rightful reactions from the public. The explanation to be issued to the public, businesses and institutions experiencing such a problem in this day and age should be made appropriately, Üstel said.

“We will seek compensation from the firm”, Üstel said adding that the Sidereal Firm, which undertook the tender for the purchase of fuel did not fulfill its commitments and was responsible for the experienced power cuts. KIB-TEK is losing time and has suffered greatly due to the power outages in the last few days. The firm is responsible”, Prime Minister Üstel said.

“KIB-TEK will persistently pursue the necessary legal proceedings against the Sidereal Lines firm, due to its irresponsibility. This is in no way acceptable and the losses will be compensated from the firm in question,” Üstel said adding that the Electricity Authority and the government were determined on this issue.
