“Road to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” documentary screening held

The Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar who spoke during the screening of the documentary ‘The Road to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ expressed great gratitude to the Republic of Türkiye. “We are an inseparable part of a great and strong nation,” Tatar said.
The visiting Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Prof. Dr Mustafa Şentop emphasized that a solution in Cyprus can only be possible with two equal and sovereign states and that they will not turn from this path.
The documentary “Road to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”, directed by Görkem Özok and realized in partnership with Bahçeşehir Cyprus University, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and BAU Center for Civilization Studies, was screened on Monday evening at the Concord Hotel in Lefkoşa.
The Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Prof. Dr Mustafa Şentop, representing the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, TC Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre and Turkish Republic Ambassador to Lekfoşa Ali Murat Başçeri attended the event.
Speeches began following a cocktail reception and piano recital.
Tatar also expressed condolences to those affected by Sunday’s treacherous bomb attack in Istanbul.
Also condemning the European Union’s statements, Tatar stated that if there is to be an agreement in Cyprus, it can only be with the cooperation of the two states. Pointing to the years of the national struggle, Tatar said that hopes for Türkiye were never lost in those years either.

“We are continuing on the right path,” Tatar said and noted that the next process will also continue with Türkiye.
Pointing to Turkish President Erdogan’s speech at the UN General Assembly and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ obtaining observer status in the Organization of Turkic States, Tatar said that this is an expression of the point reached in the struggle.
Stating that the balances in the Eastern Mediterranean show how important the existence of a Turkish state in the north of Cyprus is, Tatar commemorated the late Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş and the late Freedom Struggle leader of the Turkish Cypriot Community during his final speech.

For his part, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Prof. Dr Mustafa Şentop said that it has emerged that a solution in Cyprus will only be possible with two equal and sovereign states and that they will not turn from this path.
Şentop said that it should be known and never forgotten that the owners of the Cyprus cause is the Turkish nation. Şentop conveyed his greetings to the Turkish President and his fellow brothers in Türkiye.

Speaking at the screening event of the documentary “The Road to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”, Şentop conveyed the greetings and conversations of the President of Turkey and all his brothers in Turkey. Expressing his happiness in attending the 39th-anniversary celebrations of the establishment of TRNC, Şentop said he was happy to be attending such a meaningful event.
Condemning Sunday’s treacherous bomb attack in Istanbul Taksim on Sunday, Şentop wished mercy to those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured, and expressed condolences to the Turkish nation.
