It has been revealed that fraud is taking place towards individuals especially the retired and elderly acquiring databases of individual bank accounts.
It was stated that these scammers are calling individuals under the false pretence of being a policeman, a soldier, a prosecutor or a bank officer and are trying to obtain information to withdraw their money from their bank accounts.
These criminals are trying to launder money via bank accounts; therefore, the police have issued a warning for individuals to never give personal bank details over the phone.
Individuals have been warned to hang up and call the 155 police hotline immediately or go to the nearest police station.
