Leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman said on social media that the rise in the foreign exchange rates and Brent oil demonstrated that new price hikes were on the way.
Erhürman post is as follows:
“Sterling has hit 21, and euro 18 again, the dollar is 17.56. Brent (fuel oil), which declined to the 90s, is 106 today. These are all signs of new price hikes on the way. Unfortunately, the current discussions for the increase of the cost of living and the minimum wage that is on the agenda will have no meaning.
These changes will increase the TL revenue of the finance ministry therefore the only way feasible in the short term is to reduce the evaluation period for the minimum wage, the cost of living, and support to the producer, etc to every two months and the medium term should be to work on converting the TL to Euro. We cannot stay bystanders to the melting of our purchasing power” Erhürman is cited as saying.
