The Girne Municipality has received an international award for its new building in Girne.
Turkish Cypriot Architect Ali Yapıcıoğlu, who is continuing his career in the United States of America (USA), received the ‘Best Public Design Award’ for the ‘green building’ featured Girne Municipality building by the Rochester leg of the EU for the American Institute of Architects.
Girne Municipality Architect Anıl Çağdan said that they were very proud of receiving the prestigious architecture award for the island.
Giving technical information about the building, Anıl Çağdan explained that the building consists of a service building, staff offices and a cultural centre which is connected by the courtyard gathered around the inner garden, which is also an important element in Cyprus architecture.
