Representatives of the TRNC Assembly, UBP Deputy Özdemir Berova and CTP Deputy Armağan Candan, attended the PACE Autumn Plenary Session in Strasbourg.
According to the statement made by the TRNC Assembly, the situation in the Western Balkans as well as the tensions between Ukraine-Russia and Armenia-Azerbaijan, the draft calling for reform in the Schengen system, Islamophobia, fight against immigration, migration management and the refugee problem, and the audit report on Turkey’s international obligations in the Council of Europe, among many other topics, were on the agenda of the PACE Plenary session.
The Maraş report was also on the agenda of the Political Affairs and Democracy Committee, which was chaired by Italian Deputy Piero Fassino.
At the committee meeting, Rapporteur Fassino made evaluations about the report he will write in the coming days, referring to his visit to Cyprus on 6-8 June. After Fassino, Deputies Berova and Candan spoke and shared their opinions with the Committee.
The final version of the report, on which the deputies of the Azeri, Greek, Greek Cypriot and Turkish delegations also expressed their views, will be revealed at the forthcoming meetings of the Committee.
