It has been reported that the Namık Kemal high school boys’ volleyball team and the Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College girls’ volleyball team students and teachers who went to Kahramanmaraş for the Türkiye boys volleyball inter-high school matches are in good condition.
The Namık Kemal high school boys’ volleyball team and Gazimağusa Turk Maarif college girls’ volleyball team players were taken out of the teacher’s dormitory where they were staying following the earthquake and spent the night outdoors.
It has been reported that the players were later taken to a safe zone designated by Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and Red Cresent (Kızılay).
North Cyprus Ambassador to Ankara İsmet Korukoğlu issued a statement following the earthquake in Türkiye.
“An earthquake which took place at a point very close to the surface was intensely felt,” Korukoğlu said. We have received good news from our players and students in Kahramanmaraş, but we are still waiting for news from students in Adıyaman.

TC leader Ersin Tatar issued a statement following the crisis table meeting.
TC leader Ersin Tatar said that efforts were underway to save our children who are trapped at the hotel which was damaged by the earhquake in Adıyaman.
“We spoke with Türkiye Vice President Fuat Oktay, the Governor and AFAD officials. We have held the necessary contacts for the arrangement of rescue teams and transfer to earthquake zones. A plane will fly to Adıyaman at 3 pm today” Tatar is cited as saying.
