The fire fighting helicopter arrived late

650 donums of land burned following a fire that broke out in Yedidalga and Taşpınar.

Redwood saplings, olives and some fruit trees in an area of 500 donums were damaged following the fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in Yedidalga.
It was also reported that a fire broke out in the Taşpınar area.
Olive, and carob trees, a variety of fruit trees, round bales and irrigation pipes were destroyed by the fire that broke out in 150 donums of land south of the Taşpınar area.
According to a police report alongside teams from the police and fire department, a crew from the Forestry Department, military personnel and locals with tractors helped battle the fire at around 3 pm yesterday.

‘The fire fighting helicopter arrived in 2 hours and 45 minutes’

Lefke Mayor Aziz Kaya, on social media yesterday said that the fire fighting helicopter arrived at the scene in Yedidalga in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Lefke Mayor Kaya thanked the teams from the fire brigade, police, Lefke municipal workers and locals for working hard to contain the fire.
“Although it took 40 minutes for a vehicle to arrive, the fire fighting helicopter came in 2 hours and 45 minutes” Kaya is cited as saying.
