Five people have been arrested on grounds of the possession of illegal drugs, according to a police report.
The Prevention for Narcotics and Smuggling team arrested one person following a police raid (Zula Operation) at Ercan Airport on October 12th 2022. 100 grams of methamphetamine-type drug was detected. The person in question has been arrested and the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, also on the 12th of October 2022, a total of 4,050 Euros, 17,200 TL and 40 pounds in cash believed to be obtained from drug sales was confiscated by police in Gazimağusa at the residential address of the suspect. 20 grams of drugs believed to be cannabis and a weighing scale with drug particles were also detected by police. Following the arrest of the person, police are carrying out an investigation.
On the same day, a burnt cigarette believed to be a cannabis-type drug mixed with tobacco was confiscated from a person, following a search conducted by the Girne Prevention for Narcotics and Smuggling team in a residential house in Girne.
Following a further investigation, police reported that another person who was believed to be related to the incident was caught with 2 grams of a substance believed to be a cannabis-type drug.
And another person also believed to be related to the incident has been arrested. A police investigation is ongoing.
