1st ever `Walk for Freedom` event in North Cyprus

The ‘Walk for Freedom’ international march, organized by the Human Rights Platform to combat human trafficking and raise awareness will be held in North Cyprus on Saturday for the first time.
The march will kick start at Kuğulu Park at 4.30 pm and end at the buffer zone at 6 pm, the platform announced.
Participants will walk from the Girne Avenue route to the Dikilitaş monument in Lefkoşa and from there to the buffer zone via the Ledra Palace crossing where they will come together with participants who will be walking from South Cyprus.
In a statement by the platform, it said that “The event, organized by A21, a non-profit world organization, was committed to eradicating human trafficking.
Hundreds of people from all over the world will gather in different cities for the 8th Walk for Freedom event, which is held worldwide annually on October 15th.
Those in our country that are sensitive, to the millions of victims, enslaved as a result of human trafficking will also be contributing to this global event to raise awareness this year.
The statement said that the walk will consist of participants walking in a single line up in silence. The purpose and clear message of the ‘Walk for Freedom’ event is to defend justice and freedom and to immediately bring an end to Slavery-like practices in our country and around the world.
