Victims of mixed marriage have been called to join the protest

Victims of mixed marriages who have filed various lawsuits and established organisations on grounds that their children do not qualify for a Republic of Cyprus ID due to being born to only one Republic of Cyprus parent and therefore do not meet the requirements for EU citizenship have decided to protest in south Nicosia.

The protest march will take place on Saturday morning, November 19th at 9.30 am at the Ledra Palace and will continue following a press release in front of the Cyprus Greek Cypriot Interior Ministry building.

All mixed marriage victims from the North and the South of Cyprus and those who defend human rights have been called to join the protest march.

Those sensitive to human rights, and anti-racism organisations from the north and the south have also been invited to support the action.

The group calling themselves ‘anonymous’ said, ‘mixed marriages are not illegal’ we are carrying out our protest in front of the Republic of Cyprus Interior Ministry to protest against our citizenship rights being granted unlawfully, ‘mixed marriage is not a crime, is the slogan to be chanted.

A press release will be held against the evident racism and discrimination that violates our children’s most basic human rights, a nation, education, freedom to travel and family integrity.

All victims of mixed marriages and human rights defenders have been invited to meet at the Ledra Palace on Saturday, November 19th at 9.30 am. Those sensitive to human rights and against racism and discrimination have been called to join and express support for the action.
