The Health Ministry has announced that Covid-19 booster shots will begin tomorrow (01.11.2022). Booster shots will firstly be administered to over 75-year-olds and health workers, the ministry stated. It added that over 75-year-olds and health workers who want to have booster shots can do so at health centres under the Primary Health Units or hospitals adding that they need to have two BioNTech vaccinations before a booster shot.
The ministry also announced that those who have a single BioNTech vaccine will not be considered fully vaccinated and therefore must have their vaccinations. Those who have 3 BioNTech vaccines can have a booster shot and those who have 4 BioNTech vaccines do not need a booster shot.
The booster dose should be administered at least 3 months after the previous dose.
However, individuals who have never been vaccinated and have had Covid-19 will need to have the BionNTech vaccinations as if they were vaccinated for the first time after the 3rd month of their illness. People who have been vaccinated but have had Covid-19 can have their booster dose administered 3 months after recovery from the virus, the health ministry stated.
