The Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar has met Special Representative of the United Nations (UN) Secretary General in Cyprus, the Head of Mission of the UN Peacekeeping Force (UNFICYP) in Cyprus, Colin Stewart today.
The meeting took place, ahead of tomorrow’s informal meeting between Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar and newly elected Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides.
The Canadian diplomat Stewart had also visited the Greek Cypriot leader Christodoulides at his office yesterday, as part of preparations for tomorrow’s informal meeting of the two leaders.
Tatar and Christodoulides will meet for the first time tomorrow at 11 am at the residence of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Cyprus Colin Stewart in the buffer zone.
Tomorrow’s informal leaders’ meeting will take place before Christodoulides takes office in the South.
The UN in Cyprus shared on its Twitter account on February 15 that Stewart was ready to create an opportunity for a meeting between Tatar and Christodoulides.
