AKEL evaluated TC leader Ersin Tatar’s statements on the number of Turkish soldiers on the island and the fenced-off city of Maraş as “extremely provocative”.
Cyprus Haravgi newspaper reports on claims put forward yesterday by South Cyprus’ political party AKEL. AKEL said that the TC leader Tatar’s statements worried all Cypriots who dreamt of a joint future on an independent and reunified island, using the excuse that the intransigence of Türkiye and Tatar was the reason for the stalemate in the negotiation process.
Expressing its popular thesis, AKEL also emphasized that the only option that could bring a perspective solution to the Cyprus problem was the election of Andreas Mavroyannis as president.
