Taner Akcan Apprenticeship and Adult Education Center at the Chamber of Turkish Cypriot Shopkeepers and Artisans (KTEZO) has provided training to more than 2,000 students in the 12 years it has been serving.
To meet the country’s need for qualified personnel, the center established in 2010 in cooperation and solidarity with the Ministry of National Education and the Vocational Technical Education Department, graduated 965 students in the field of apprenticeship and 454 students in the field of lifelong education.
Taner Akcan Apprenticeship and Adult Education Center School Director İrem Seylani stated that the on-the-job training model, which is one of the indispensable elements of vocational education, is implemented at the center, where the students receive training both at their schools and at their workplaces.
Stating that the school provides training in occupational fields such as automotive, electricity, barbering, skincare, beauty, hairdressing, and nail technology, Seylani said that, training is given in 38 different professions, and can be given in 124 professions that are within the scope of the law.
Chairman of the KTEZO Chamber, Mehmet Ali Ardıç, stated that it is the “heart of the TRNC” and said that they will enlarge the school and keep it alive forever.
KTEZO Coordinator Hürrem Tulga also stated that the school has nine full-time and 4 part-time employees, and the contribution received from the state is 5 thousand TL, emphasizing that they have no future with this contribution, so the contribution should be readjusted.
