Prime Minister Ustel said problems related to electricity production would be thing of a past before end of 2023

The problems associated with electricity production would end by the end of 2023, Prime Minister Unal Ustel said.

Unal Ustel at the press conference held in Nicosia, said that negotiations were ongoing with Turkey to put an end to all the problems with the production of electricity in the North.

“We will bring permanent solutions to all the electricity problems,” he said. Ustel also underlined that North Cyprus and Turkey would also be linked with power cables.

He elaborated that a 5 year fuel supply agreement was to be signed, “Filters were to be installed at the state-owned power station and maintenance of the power plant was to be carried out by Turkey” he said.

In the press conference, he also revealed that over 1 billion Turkish Lira was to be channelled from Turkey to improve the welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Ustel also said the Vice President of Turkey, Fuat Oktay would be visiting North Cyprus next week, where further financial incentives and aid would be announced.

Furthermore, 28 million TL for cultural heritage sites and 3.8 million TL for schools had been allocated, the Prime Minister stated.
