North Cyprus 2022 Household Labour Force Survey results published

According to the 2022 Household Labour Force Survey results, the number of people employed in the public sector in North Cyprus was calculated as 35,462, in total 25.6 per cent in the public sector.

-Employment according to sectors… 77.5 per cent in the service sector

According to the survey results, the employed have been analysed in four main sectors, agriculture, industry, construction, and service.

4.2 per cent in the agriculture sector, 8.4 per cent in the industrial sector, 9.9 per cent in the construction sector and 77.5 per cent in the service sector has been determined in total.

-Educational status of the employed

According to the survey results, 16.9 per cent of the employed people in North Cyprus only finished primary school, 14.6 per cent are secondary school graduates or equivalent (including primary education), 32.8 per cent are high school graduates or equivalent, and 3.8 per cent have a 2-3-year degree in higher education, 25.7 per cent are a 4-year university or higher school graduate, 2.9 per cent are postgraduate (including 5-6 year faculty programs) and 1.0 per cent are doctoral graduates.

-Labor force participation rate is 49.1 per cent

The labour force participation rate, which is an important indicator of the labour force, was calculated as 49.1 per cent. This rate was calculated as 46.7 per cent in Lefkoşa, 49.8 per cent in Gazimağusa, 52.2 per cent in Girne, 45.7 per cent in Güzelyurt, 54.2 per cent in İskele and 41.3 per cent in Lefke.
-50.9% of the non-institutional working-age population are those who are not included in the workforce

50.9 per cent (153 thousand 189 people) of the non-institutional working-age population are not included in the labour force.
