Municipality employees have blocked off parliament road

Municipal workers have blocked off the road today leading to the parliament building with industrial vehicles in protest against the merging of municipalities (special) draft law to be discussed at an extraordinary session at Parliament.

Police are redirecting traffic to alternative routes to avoid congestion.

The Revolutionary Trade Unions Federation (DEV-İŞ), the Municipal Workers Union (BES), and the Gazimağusa Turk General-İŞ Union have announced that they will be holding a general warning strike today and a protest in front of the Republics Assembly to call for the withdrawal of the (Special) Draft Law on the Unification of Municipalities and the issue to be re-evaluated.
