Lefkoşa Marathon will be held on Sunday October 23rd

Nearly 11 thousand people, not only from Lefkoşa but from all over the country, have registered so far to take part in the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality (LTB) Lefkoşa Marathon to be held for the 10th time this year, Sunday, October 23rd.

All funds collected from the Lefkoşa Marathon this year will be used for the new Life Center (Yaşam Merkezi), in line with expanding the years of services provided by the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality according to the needs of the elderly in the capital under one roof.

Mayor of Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality (LTB) Mehmet Harmancı, held a press conference today with EU Champion and record holder Ramil Guliyev, who will also be participating in the Lefkoşa Marathon on Sunday.

Harmancı referred to the high interest in the participation of the popular Lefkoşa Marathon, stating that interest poured in not only from Lefkoşa but from the whole country. Harmancı said that there will be an outstanding number of athletes participating in the marathon.

Stating that the goal is to attract more important athletes to the marathon by increasing the financial rewards in the coming years, Harmancı emphasized that the Department of Sports, the relevant ministries, and all segments active in sports should support the marathon.

Harmancı said that the award ceremony in all categories will be held on Sunday at 7 pm at Büyük Han.

Harmancı also informed that on Saturday (tomorrow) there will be a Pasta and signing day event on Zahra Street.

Ramil Guliyev also thanked for the invitation to the marathon. Guliyev said that the pandemic has affected sports a lot, but it is now over and he is happy to participate in this important marathon for the TRNC.
