Kamu İş member caretakers protested in front of the parliament!

Caretakers working at schools under the Public Workers Union (Kamu-İş) affiliated with the Ministry of National Education protested in front of the Parliamentary Assembly.
Caretakers protesting at schools demand their rights for the Collective Bargaining Agreement. (TİS). Some permanent caretaker staff members under Kamu-İş also supported the action.
The head of Kamu-İş Ahmet Serdaroğlu said that the union member group had rights to the collective bargaining agreement (TİS) adding that they were unable to receive what was rightfully theirs for the past five months.
Serdaroğlu who criticised statements issued by the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu then left a pair of old shoes at the parliament building gardens.
Serdaroğlu said that they were carrying out efforts for all schools around the country to go on a general strike and gave the government a deadline warning until Friday.
Protesters then held a sit-down action following Serdaroğlu’s statements followed by a support action by the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Tufan Erhürman and CTP deputies.
Expressing that they will work to go on a general strike in all schools, Serdaroğlu gave the government time until Friday.
Erhürman expressed that they were following the developments closely and that the issue would be brought to the opening of the parliament’s agenda. Erhürman voiced support for the protesters and said that they were not alone.
