Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced that the flexible tariff (time of use pricing arrangements) will be implemented in electricity consumption.
Üstel noted that necessary measures were taken to prevent the country from being without electricity adding that bad intentions had been disrupted with the measures being enforced.
In a written statement, Prime Minister Üstel announced that the decision for the flexible tariff on electricity consumption had been approved by the Council of Ministers.
Üstel noted that with the implementation of the flexible tariff (time-of-use pricing arrangements), consumers would be able to control the cost of the consumption of their electrical energy bill by choosing certain hours.
Information on the details of the times and prices of the tariffs will be made available by KIB-TEK, Üstel is cited as saying.
Noting that the essential precautions have been taken to prevent the country from experiencing power shortages, Üstel emphasized his determination at producing permanent solutions to the problems experienced with electricity.
Referring to the experienced power cuts, Prime Minister Üstel said that they would not allow games to be played at the expense of keeping the public in darkness.
Prime Minister Üstel also stated that all necessary measures were taken to provide fuel to KIB-TEK and to prevent the country from being without electricity.
Also referring to the fuel tender case being carried to the Competition Board by Sidereal Lines Ltd firm, Üstel reaffirmed that the Competition Board announced the case as baseless following its evaluations.
Unfortunately, in a bid to halt the fuel tender process, Sidereal Lines Ltd took its case to the Competition Board for a second time, Üstel said adding that this was done on purpose to leave the country without electricity and to cause a crisis.
We will not allow this to happen, Prime Minister Üstel said noting that the decision to purchase 24 thousand metric tons of fuel at Platts + 13 USD CIF (cost, insurance and freight) Teknecik delivery price was taken by the Council of Ministers.
