Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Tufan Erhürman called on President Ersin Tatar to come to his senses following statements he made to a newspaper. Erhürman who criticized Tatar’s statements said that if he did not stay within his limits then he would need to resign. Speaking during the General Assembly of Parliament, Erhürman reminded that similar statements were issued against him last week and that President Tatar did not deny these statements. Erhürman who spoke at the session held up one of today’s newspapers with the headline, “I warned you Erhürman, you are not taking any notice”.
Making a call to the police directorate, Erhürman said that he did not need any protection but warned that if any of his fellow party members or a member of his family is disturbed then he will not refrain from taking further measures.
“The person sitting in the palace should come to his senses! If he does not then he should leave. A president like this is unacceptable”, Erhürman said adding that Tatar threatened him a few times in the week. “Those who consciously or unconsciously attack me are indirectly attacking the state and our homeland”, Erhürman said adding that these kinds of expressions are nothing but ignorance.
