Ercan New Terminal Airport to be inaugurated on November 15

Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, has announced that following the arrival of the technical equipment, test flights will be take place as of the 30th October and the new Ercan terminal building will be opened on November 15th.

The technical meeting at Ercan airport in North Cyprus, attended by the visiting Turkish Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu has been completed.

The meeting held this morning following on the spot inspections at the new terminal lasted for nearly for two and a half hours.

Arıklı and Karaismailoğlu made statements to the press after the meeting.

The problems have been solved, there are no obstacles left in our way anymore the, Arıklı is cited as saying.

Stating that today is an important day, Arıklı said that problems experienced with contractor companies has been solved with the visit by Turkish Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu.

Arıklı expressed his best wishes to the country and added that with the arrival of technical equipment test flights will begin as of the 30th October and the new airport building will be opened on November 15th.

For his part, Karaismailoğlu said that a beautiful airport terminal that suits North Cyprus has been constructed.

Karaismailoğlu said that important meetings with government officials and airport contractors and vowed to put the new airport terminal into full fledged operation before November.

Work distribution will be clarified within the next two months and additional requests of the contractor company was also taken up Karaismailoğlu said following the meeting.

Following on the spot tour of the airport and the runway this morning, Karaismailoğlu said that the terminal was in a way worthy of North Cyprus, “A project has emerged that all citizens of North Cyprus can be proud of” he said.

Also expressing that serious work is continuing on the highways in North Cyprus and that they are planning openings in November, Karaismailoğlu stated that with the decrease of the effects of the pandemic the tourism breakthrough in North Cyprus will continue to increase and they will continue to support North Cyprus in their efforts to provide good and quality service.
