The 2022 Peace Awards were presented by the Cyprus Peace Council (CPC).
The Peace Awards ceremony, organized for the first time by the Council, took place last night with the active participation of people from both communities.
The awards were presented to two Greek Cypriots and two Turkish Cypriots who lost their loved ones during the war.
Among those to receive the awards were Georgos Liasis, Petros Soupouris, Suat Kafadar, and Hüseyin Akansoy.
The head of the Greek Cypriot Journalists’ Union Georgos Frangos and Tasos Costeas from the Cyprus Peace Council delivered opening speeches at the event.
Academician-author and poet Neşe Yaşın also delivered a speech on the meaning and importance of the ceremony.
Songs by the bi-communal choir (Lena Melandiou) were sung following the presentation of the awards.
