The annual food inflation in North Cyprus continues to hover above the general inflation rates.
While the annual inflation in October increased to 120.72%, the food inflation remained at a record level of 130.75%.
A 5.97% increase has been recorded in food prices in just one month.
According to the Statistics Institute data, the price of bread, a staple food item, increased by 146.36 % in one year.
Another staple food item is milk which has increased by 18.86% in October and 177.11% among the yearly basic food products, official data reports.
The price of halloumi (hellim) rose by 24.13 % in October, while the price of yoghurt rose by 11.26 %.
Consequently, halloumi increased by 165.82 %, and yoghurt by 134.72 % in one year.
Meat prices continue to rise. Lamb chops, rose by 3.93 % according to the monthly data, and 68.45 % in line with the yearly data; On the other hand, there has been a 6.89 % monthly and 128.14 % annual price increase in ground beef.
The data also indicates that the price of chicken has increased by 165.60 %.
