According to a statement by the Presidency, TC leader Ersin Tatar responded to questions by Hurriyet newspaper correspondent Hande Fırat.

Tatar said that the next stage of Maraş may be the opening of some public buildings. Tatar announced that gifts will be presented to the first arrivals at around noon, on the 2nd anniversary of the opening of Maraş. A concert will also take place, he said.

“From ghost town to museum town”

TC leader Tatar stated that the closed city of Varosha (Maraş) was known as a ghost town adding that a part of it was opened on October 8th, 2020 at exactly noon; “It is no longer a ghost town, it is now a museum city, with its two magnificent beaches,” he said.

The lands belong to foundations from the Ottoman Empire, and some of the buildings belong to the Greek Cypriots and the British. There are also public buildings.
