President Ersin Tatar who held on-the-spot inspections of the fire in Kantara, Mersinlik received first-hand information.
Tatar said that as a precautionary measure fields in the villages were being ploughed and that teams were working intensively.
Tatar said that he has requested helicopter assistance from the British Bases and the South of Cyprus to contain the fire.
