A crisis desk has been set up at the North Cyprus Presidency following the earthquake that struck Türkiye affecting 10 provinces and also felt in Cyprus.
The meeting chaired by Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar began at 8 am. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Commander (KTBK) Major General Sezai Öztürk, Security Forces Commander (GKK) Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu and Civil Defense Organization Head Atilla Karaca are present at the meeting.
A 7.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye at 4.17 am and was felt in Cyprus local time at 3:17 am.
