Oktay “The time has come to recognize the TRNC”

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay spoke to TRT Haber following his Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) contacts.
Stating that the TRNC was very special for Türkiye, Oktay said that Türkiye’s stance was clear.
“Following the call issued by our President, we have carried out our policy on the TRNC to another dimension. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has a very special place for our President, Türkiye, the state, and the government of the Republic of Türkiye. Türkiye’s policy on the Eastern Mediterranean is a sine quo non. It is an indispensable condition for the security of Türkiye. That is to so say an equation without Türkiye would not exist” Oktay said.
Reminding that although the Turkish nation has said ‘yes’ to all solution plans on Cyprus to date, Oktay stated that a positive response has never been attained. He said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that more needs to be done, “The only solution from now on is an equal sovereign based two-state solution. We as Türkiye and our President have always said that the ‘World is greater than five’. The United Nations Security Council is not even good for itself. This is what we mean when we say the ‘World is not greater than 5’. Our President has shouted out to the UN and the rest of the whole World. From now on we will do this through recognition. It is now time for recognition” the Turkish Vice President said.
Oktay also underlined that obtaining the observer status of the TRNC in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s main topic to be discussed during his agenda in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
