President Ersin Tatar stressed the injustice of the embargo and isolation and called for their lifting as well as the launch of direct flights from the UK to the TRNC.
President Ersin Tatar explained the new policy of the Turkish Cypriot side and the developments in the TRNC to the TRNC Friendship Group during their meeting on Monday in the House of Lords of the UK Parliament. He also emphasised that the unfair embargoes against the Turkish Cypriot people should now be lifted.
President Tatar said that they constantly faced obstacles from the Greek Cypriot side on issues such as direct flights, direct trade, international contacts and participation in sports events, but they never gave up and that they were working to make the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people heard in the international arena despite all obstacles.
Tatar, who also answered questions, noted that the TRNC could not participate in any international events and protested against this. Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people have always supported the solution but have always been the side that is punished, Tatar stated that the search for a federal solution is over, that there are two sovereignly equal states in Cyprus and that there can now be a solution based on the cooperation of the two states.
