“Our target is to bring the youth of North Cyprus to the world stage”

TC leader Ersin Tatar said that his goal was to bring North Cyprus to the world stage as a recognized state with the support of Türkiye.
Tatar spoke of the Cyprus issue at a conference at the Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University in Türkiye. He noted that North Cyprus will continue on its path with the Republic of Türkiye.

“The struggle of the Turkish Cypriots harbours many global and local struggles”
Referring to the struggle waged for the existence of the Turkish Cypriots, Tatar said that although the Cyprus issue is supposedly well known, the details of the facts are not very well acknowledged. The honourable struggle waged for the Turkish Cypriot people for centuries is not just a struggle for existence, it harbours many global and local struggles, Tatar said.
“Efforts for a federation-based solution failed.”
Touching upon the negotiation processes for a solution in Cyprus, Tatar emphasised that efforts for a federation-based solution have failed. He reminded that he received the full support of the Turkish Cypriot people for a two separate state policy during his election in the 2020 Presidential elections.
It is my fundamental duty to protect the state, its sovereignty, the rights and interests of the people and further strengthen ties with Türkiye, Tatar said.
Emphasizing the importance of North Cyprus, TC leader Ersin Tatar noted that Cyprus is also of vital importance for the security of the Republic of Türkiye. TC leader Tatar pointed out that Türkiye’s interests and the interests of North Cyprus coincided and added to the importance of strengthing North Cyprus.
