Lovejoy Zinyuke, 24, who nearly drowned in the sea in Gemikonağı last night, could not be saved.
According to a police statement Zinyuke nearly drowned while swimming in the sea at around 09.15pm last night.
Zinyuke who was saved by friends died in the ambulance while being taken to hospital.
An investigation continues.
