President Ersin Tatar and Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye Fuat Oktay held inspections at the areas affected by the fire and received first-hand information regarding fire fighting efforts.
Oktay, who came to north Cyprus for official contacts, visited the fire-affected area in the Mersinlik region that has been ongoing for 3 days, before starting his contacts.
President Tatar and Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay received information from the Civil Defense Mobile Crisis desk in the area.
Tatar and Oktay were accompanied by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dursun Oğuz, and other officials.
Aerial and ground extinguishing efforts are intensively continuing, reports say.
Fire-fighters from air and land are tackling the fires that have reached the Kantara-Ardahan region.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) from the Republic of Türkiye have conducted reconnaissance in the region and are transmiting information to fire fighting aircraft from Türkiye, the British bases and South Cyprus.
