Ziya Öztürkler “Individuals will be filtered via E-visa control before North Cyprus entry”

Interior Minister Ziya Öztürkler said that ever since assuming office, the ministry has carried out a multipurpose task and has completed the technical procedure for the implementation of the E-Visa Automation System’, which constitutes one of the most important basic visions put forward. Minister Öztürkler said that the project is now at its tender stage and that a budget of 255 thousand 500 dollars has been approved for the cost of the project adding that strict controls will take place at entries into the country following the enforcement of the system.

Giving information regarding the 1,500 individuals who have been deported in the last 4 months following inspections of irregularities or involvement in criminal matters, minister Öztürkler said that meetings were held with relevant parties to restructure the immigration system and that a comprehensive Immigration Amnesty was finally prepared to ensure registration.

Öztürkler underlined that with the E-Visa Automation System, the information of foreigners to come to the country will be pre-checked before they come to the island, border security will be increased and people will be registered.
Pointing out that with the e-Visa application, an individual who is inconvenient for public security will be recognized before they come to the island. Öztürkler also pointed out that the state will be relieved of the high costs incurred for years on deportation costs.

Technical studies will pave the way for the working of the E-Government structure in the future. Minister Öztürkler, who also gave information about the process of the E-Visa Automation System, said that once activated the E-Visa will consist of information from seven different institutions, the Visa Control Office, namely the Population Registration Office, the Immigration Department, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Health, the General Directorate of Police, the Ministry of National Education and the Tax Office.
