The Department of Animal Husbandry announced that under the Amateur (Sportive) Fisheries Hunting Regulation, regardless of whether TRNC citizen or not all kinds of amateur hunting activities other than land fishing are subject to permission.
Individuals who will engage in amateur hunting activities need to obtain permission from the department for both themselves and the boat to be used for hunting, the statement said.
It warned that hunting with underwater rifles is prohibited from sunset to sunrise.
According to the Regulation on the Prohibition of net casting and certain fishing bans:
It is obligatory to mark all kinds of gillnets released into the sea with a flag during the day and an illuminated indicator at night. In addition, it is permitted to use nets equal to or greater than 84 mm from the shore from the period 1 October – 31 March. Those who will cruise on the coastline should be cautious not to approach the flagged or illuminated indicator signals during the day or at night, in order not to damage the boats and nets of fishermen, the statement announced.
