The UNSG’s special representative in Cyprus, Colin Stewart, is holding separate meetings with Turkish and Greek Cypriot leaders today.
The separate meetings take place ahead of Stewart’s trip to New York where the UN Security Council is expected to vote in a resolution for the renewal of the UN peacekeeping force’s mandate at the end of July.
While Stewart met with the Greek Cypriot leader in the morning, he will be received by Turkish Cypriot Leader Ersin Tatar later this afternoon.
The Security Council is expected to extend UNFICYP’s mandate for a further six months.
