TRNC delegation attends 17th Session of the PUIC Conference in Algeria

A TRNC delegation, headed by Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre, is attending the 17th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States Conference (PUIC) in Algeria.

TRNC attends the conference as an observer member of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUOICM).

According to the statement issued by the Parliament, the delegation, headed by the Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre, consists of UBP MP Emrah Yeşilırmak, CTP MP Fikri Toros, DP MP Serhat Akpınar and YDP MP Talip Atalay.

The 17th Session of the PUIC Conference kicked off with an opening ceremony attended by observer members yesterday.

During the ceremony, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre was among the parliamentary speakers from other countries.

Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and the President of the 16th PUIC Conference, handed over the rotational presidency of PUIC to Ibrahim Boughali, Assembly President of Algeria.

During the first day of the conference, Töre and his delegation held a bilateral consultation meeting with Şentop and his delegation.

“We are paying attention to inviting the TRNC Parliamentary Speaker and members to the international meetings. Those meetings are important because it gives an opportunity to explain the Cyprus problem,” Şentop said at the meeting.

“TRNC is our national state. There is no way to give up on our state,” Töre stressed.

Töre and his delegation will continue their working meetings today.

The delegation will return to the TRNC after the conference end tonight.
