Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar expressed disappointment that the Turkish Cypriot youth could not attend the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Türkiye.
“Due to political reasons, we are only observer members at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. We are not full members. We are not able to participate in the games as we only have observer status. Our youth are naturally sad. Through a series of contacts yesterday I was able to convey these problems with the support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. North Cyprus and the TC people want their youth to participate at every platform”, Tatar said adding that it was a natural right adding that sport was brotherhood, solidarity and beauty. Issuing a message to the people of North Cyprus, Tatar said that he was doing all he could with the support of Türkiye for the Turkish Cypriot youth of North Cyprus to be able to take part in the next upcoming games which are expected for 2025. “This is our expectations and hope,” Tatar said.
