It has been reported that a total of 63,971 people crossed the Metehan crossing checkpoint (Agios Dometios), Lefkoşa during the Eid holiday for vehicle crossings.
It was stated by the Police General Directorate that the pile up at the Metehan crossing point during the holiday was not due to the North Cyprus end but due to the crossing points in South Cyprus that only allowed vehicles on a single lane.
Registered crossings at Metehan during the Religious holiday is as follows;
• 8 personnel were on duty at the Metehan Crossing point 16,242 entrances and exits were registered. 09.07.2022 (1st Day of Eid)
•10 personnel on duty, 16,772 entrances and exits were registered. 10.07.2022 (2nd Day of Eid)
•11 personnel on duty, 15,644 entrances and exits were registered 11.07.2022 (3rd Day of Eid)
•10 personnel on duty, 15,313 entries and exits were registered. 12.07.2022 (the 4th day of Eid)
A total of 63,971 entries and exits were registered during the Eid holiday.
