Özkurt’s court case indefinitely postponed

Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRTK) Director Meryem Çavuşoğlu Özkurt’s court of appeals decision was heard again at the High Court today.

The decision for the appeal hearing held in the presence of a delegation by Supreme Court Judges Beril Çağdal, Peri Hakkı and Talat Usar was indefinitely postponed.

Özkurt was sentenced to two months imprisonment.

Özkurt was found guilty on June 7th of two cases filed against her. Although she was sentenced to two months for the 1st case and 20 days for the 2nd case, she was sentenced to serve two months.

BRT Director Meryem Çavuşoğlu Özkurt was found guilty of not complying with the High Electoral Council’s written warning to halt live broadcasting of the ceremony for the restoring of the flow of water from Türkiye to the Geçitköy dam in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
