An individual attempting to smuggle 93 kilograms of beef meat across from the South to the North via the Metehan checkpoint in Lefkoşa at around 8 am today was detected by police.
Following a police operation, the individual was caught red-handed with the meat in the vehicle he was driving whilst attempting to smuggle it over to the North of the island, the police said.
The person in question has been arrested and an investigation continues.
