Olgun: “The UN must have the consent of the parties of the region it is stationed”

Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar’s Special Representative Ergün Olgun said that the UN Peacekeeping Force, in line with its own rules, must have the consent of parties in the region where it is stationed.
“This is not a demand, it is a right. We want that right to be fulfilled,” Olgun said.
Ergün Olgun issued statements regarding the United Nations Peacekeeping Force.
Stating that, in the past, many attempts had been made to obtain the consent of the Turkish Cypriot side by the UN Peacekeeping Force, Olgun said that this was not a new initiative. Currently, the Turkish Cypriot side’s Foreign Ministry, the Presidency and the Republic of Türkiye are conducting a common resolve to finalize this issue, Olgun noted.
