The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dursun Oğuz responded to questions on a program titled “This is the important part” on BRT.
Oğuz, who warned of drought, said “Rainfall this year was below expectations. Drought is currently being experienced. In terms of numbers, we have to wait. Work is ongoing,” he said.
Stating that drought brings on greater challenges for water and food resources, Oğuz said, “It is an issue that concerns not only our people but all living creatures”.
“The numbers reached for barley, for animal feeders, are not what we expected this year, crops are low. We will probably import this year. Plans have been made. We are also making plans for 2024,” he said.
Pointing out that an enactment on work for the Mesarya region for agricultural irrigation is ongoing; Oğuz said that new ponds and similar efforts are also continuing.
Dursun Oğuz also stated that serious measures need to be taken for water saving adding that technical work on the issue is continuing. Discussions are taking place with engineers and relevant experts on water conservation, Oğuz said.
