"We will work so that our country does not need to beg for electricity from South Cyprus"

Voice Kıbrıs Haber
The Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu said that during the Council of Ministers meeting decisions were taken for the purchase of fuel so that problems on energy are not experienced during the Bayram holiday.
Amcaoğlu noted that short, medium and long-term plans will be created following the draft law that was passed for the Higher Committee on Energy that will consist of a nine-man team.
Noting that work for the one-year supply of 150 thousand tons of fuel has been completed, Amcaoğlu said that 60 days were needed for the tender to be finalized in a healthy manner.
Amcaoğlu said, “We had no choice but to buy fuel when it was expensive. The Council of Ministers had no choice but to take these steps. I believe that the correct steps were taken. Instead of the country falling into darkness, expensive fuel was purchased. From now on these problems will be eliminated as fuel will be purchased in accordance to requests and this will pave the way to overcome the problems experienced”.
It seems likely that in the process ahead we will carry out these kinds of purchases so as not to relive the problems again. Four more purchases will be made. We will work so that our country does not need to beg for electricity energy from South Cyprus, Amcaoğlu said.
